Dave leads the firm’s property/casualty and pension actuarial teams and serves as Quality Review Partner providing oversight and directive to his actuarial team on risk-focused examinations, rate and rule applications, captive application reviews and other special projects. Dave is directly responsible for client relationships and ensuring high quality service is delivered as well as staffing and scheduling for actuarial projects within the firm. Dave has over 25 years of experience in the following areas:

Dave is the current Chair of the American Academy of Actuaries (“AAA”) ERM/ORSA Committee, current Chair of the AAA’s Workers’ Compensation Committee, and a member of the AAA’s Committee on Property and Liability Financial Reporting (COPLFR), which focuses on statutory accounting issues for property and casualty insurers. Dave has served as Chair COPLFR’s Practice Note Subcommittee, providing guidance to US property and casualty Appointed Actuaries on Statutory Statements of Actuarial Opinion. In 2011, Dave won the Hachemeister Prize for co-authoring a research paper titled “A Practical Approach to Risk Margins in the Measurement of Insurance Liabilities for Property and Casualty (General Insurance) under Developing International Finance Reporting Standards”. He has presented at numerous actuarial and industry conferences and has published articles on a wide variety of topics, including insurer insolvency risk actors, stress testing, risk margins, Big Data, and risk financing optimization for self-insured entities.
