Dave is a property/casualty actuary with over 25 years of experience serving insurers, reinsurers, and self-insureds in identifying, quantifying and managing risk. As a Senior Consulting Actuary he assists regulators and insurers in risk-focused examinations, market conduct examinations, rate filing reviews including predictive modeling-based filings, reinsurance risk transfer, and ORSA filings.
Dave is the current Vice-Chair of the American Academy of Actuaries (“AAA”) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)/Own Risk Solvency Assessment (ORSA) Committee and a member of the AAA’s Committee on Property and Liability Financial Reporting (COPLFR), which focuses on statutory accounting issues for property and casualty insurers. Dave has served as Chair COPLFR’s Practice Note Subcommittee, providing guidance to US property and casualty Appointed Actuaries on Statutory Statements of Actuarial Opinion. He is a frequent presenter at Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) events. In 2011, Dave won the Hachemeister Prize for co-authoring an article titled “A Practical Approach to Risk Margins in the Measurement of Insurance Liabilities for Property and Casualty (General Insurance) under Developing International Finance Reporting Standards”.
